"I Love My SBI" Music Video

"I Love My SBI" was my first big effort at online video. It was part of a contest put on by SBI (Site Build It), an Internet small business web host and supporter. It's a little difficult describing what SBI is, exactly, except that it's just the thing you need if you want to start a small business online. It's not "get rich quick", but it's "the way of the tortoise" -- go slowly, and do it right. There were over 140 small business contestants from all around the globe, and I won first place (and $10,000)! It was very cool. If I loved the company before, imagine how I felt after the contest! (And it gave me confidence to enter the Convenient Truth global warming video contest a few months later, which I also won.)

I made the video with a borrowed Sony camcorder (I don't remember the model), and Sony Vegas Movie Studio (the trial version, since I was just trying it out). A lot of the still pictures and animations were from pictures from my Canon PowerShot A75 digital camera, and they were manipulated using Paint Shop Pro X. I wrote the words and the music, composed it in Finale, and recorded and mixed the vocals (me, my son Jared and daughter Anna) using Audacity and a borrowed Sony mini-disc recorder and external microphone. The people bopping back and forth on screen are members of my family.
