Favorite Super Bowl Commercials 2008
Here are my personal favorite Super Bowl commercials from Super Bowl XLII. Read my introduction about Super Bowl ads if you haven't already.
My criteria: Of course, I wanted to be entertained, but the ads also had to sell the benefits of the product. I didn't include Super Bowl ads that were dumb, annoying, or offensive (very subjective, I know, but this is my list.) I also didn't include Super Bowl ads that were just movie trailers, since they're a different kind of thing.
Note: These superbowl commercials are hosted by hulu.com, and may not work if you're coming from a domain outside of the US. Sorry about that! (I'll find a more international source if I can.)
FedEx: Carrier Pigeons
Funny, innovative, conveys key benefit (don't try to do this yourself).
Bridgestone: Highlights
Funny development and payoff, good illustration of benefit.
ETrade: Bobo the Clown
Good benefits, funny.
Tide: Talking Stain
Good illustration of concept, simple, to the point.
careerbuilder.com: Follow Your Heart
Weird and creepy, effective.
Doritos: Mousetrap
Funny payoff, weird, sells product benefit.
Ice Breakers Ice Cubes: Break the Ice with Carmen Electra
Funny, unexpected conclusion.
Bridgestone: Scream
Funny, cute, wierd.
VitaminWater: Jocky Shaq
Silly exaggeration, but interesting and memorable.
Toyota: Eight Crazies
Interesting to watch, conveys a benefit (seats 8).
