The Tortoise Video

This tortoise video was also created for a contest. It was also sponsored by SBI (see I Love My SBI and The Secret Lives of Ken Evoy? and Shelly, the SBI Tortoise). This was to show a tortoise (the SBI mascot) and one or more members of your family. Alas, it didn't place in the contest, but it was fun to make.

Although the contest could include signs of tortoises (or turtles), toys, sculptures and the like (pictures or videos), my first entry was disqualified because it didn't show "real" tortoises. I thought it was clever, but it didn't fly.

Anyway, I went back to the drawing board, and wrote a little poem for the contest. I didn't put this one to music, however. It was a "quick and dirty" effort -- I didn't even use my video camera, opting instead for my latest digital camera (Kodak EasyShare C613 -- a cheapo camera that takes decent pictures), since it would be quicker to upload the pictures. The sound was recorded with a Sony microphone onto my laptop into Audacity. The video quality isn't great, but it's a decent video (even if I couldn't ever find a live animal). And, I finished it in a day.

The Video:

A Little Poem:
The Tortoise
by Jon Forsyth

Tortoise, tortoise, sitting there
Little fellow has no hair
But his shell's a beauteous thing
It's so fine -- don't need no bling

Little legs and little neck
He moves slow, but what the heck?
Knowing look on wise old face
Says, "Slow and steady wins the race"
