Everybody Drive a Vespa!

This was for a contest put on by Vespa, the motor scooter makers, to promote something they called "Vespanomics." The video had to mention or illustrate at least two of the four parts of the marketing campaign: save money, reduce carbon emissions, reduce traffic congestion, and be stylish.

As often happens, I came up with a catchy little tune. I didn't have access to one of their scooters, but the company did provide some images to download, so I decide to do the whole video as animation -- sort of jerky stop-motion animation that matched the driving beat of the song (which matched the "putt putt putt" of a motor scooter -- at least in my mind).

The photos of my son Mark on the trike were taken with a Kodak EasyShare digital camera, and the graphics were done with Paint Shop Pro X. The song was written by me, composed in Finale and mixed in Audacity. The vocalists are my wife, son Jared, daughter Anna, Natalie Kelsey (a friend), and me. The whole thing was put together with Sony Vegas Movie Studio.
